The City/Campuses
Located on the UK’s south coast, Portsmouth isn’t just a great place to study – it’s a great place to live.
Most of the University buildings are right in the heart of the city with everything you need in easy reach.
Southsea seafront is a short walk from the city centre and main University campus. Here you can enjoy fantastic sea views, four miles of beach and the green spaces of Southsea Common, ideal for meeting friends and having summer picnics.
London is just a 90 minute direct train journey away. Heathrow, Gatwick and Southampton airports are within easy reach and if you want to get to Europe, there are regular ferries to France and Spain.

Students from the Philippines
If you’re from the Philippines and interested in studying in the UK, the University of Portsmouth is a great place to fulfiLl your ambitions.
Foundation courses
- If you've completed the Senior High School (Arts/Sports) Certificate or a local Diploma, you'll usually need to do a foundation year before doing an undergraduate course such as a Bachelor's degree. We recommend you take a foundation course at our associated college International College Portsmouth (ICP).
Undergraduate courses
- If you've successfully completed the Senior High School (Academic), we'll consider you for admission onto an undergraduate course via ICP's Stage 2 programme.
Postgraduate courses
- For entry to our postgraduate Master's programmes, you'll usually need to have a Bachelor's degree from a local prestigious university, or a local Master degree, with a GPA of at least 2.0. Work experience is also required for several postgraduate courses and many courses will require you to have studied relevant subjects. Please see our courses for more details.
- As a student from the Philippines, you can apply for various scholarships and bursaries, including the International Alumni Referral Award, Goal Award and Chevening Scholarship. You can find more information about these on our funding page.
